The Good Samaritan Regional Health Center Auxiliary now has a device which assists them when escorting individuals in wheelchairs. The Auxiliary had donated funds to the hospital specifically for this new equipment.
Volunteers routinely escort patients and visitors throughout Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. “There are times when the average volunteer finds it difficult to provide escort service when a patient or guest requires a large bariatric wheelchair,” states Judy Swinson, Director of Volunteer Services at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. Also the Auxiliary has an initiative specifically to Keep Our Volunteer Safe, “Our volunteers want to provide exceptional customer service to our patients and guests so the wheelchair mover is an excellent addition,” adds Swinson.
The wheelchair mover is a battery operated piece of equipment that gives the volunteer a tool to easily transport a patient or guest to the desired location within the hospital. To continue the safety theme, volunteers are trained to use the equipment.
